Butterball Indoor Electric Turkey Fryer

It is the perfect time of year to check out the Butterball Indoor Electric Turkey Fryer. I know it is a mouthful to say but it really is all these things. I have heard so much about turkey fryers over the years and have tasted fried Thanksgiving turkeys several times and I must say they are absolutely delicious. It would definitely be my preferred way to cook my turkey if there were only an easy way to do it.

Without fail, every single holiday season I see a news story about someone attempting to fry a turkey and accidentally burning down their home. In fact, it is never just one story about this type of thing. It is several and the reputation of turkey fryers being dangerous has me, and I'm sure plenty of others, swearing off them and settling for traditional cooking methods.

But the Butterball Turkey Fryer has changed the way we should be looking at turkey fryers and once you see this thing in action, you will, like me abandon your fears and look to frying as a safe alternative for cooking incredible holiday turkeys. I'm excited about this years meals and have already convinced my wife to forgo the Christmas Ham for a deep fried turkey!

Before we talk about the Butterball Turkey Fryer in detail, let's have a look at the video so you can see what I saw and how it changed my mind regarding the dangers of deep frying.

Butterball Turkey Fryer Reviews

There were not a lot of Butterball Turkey Fryer reviews online to rely on but I can tell you that this is a very popular As Seen On TV product and they are selling well. I'm the type that will buy any product I want to review as long as there is a money back guarantee so I bit the bullet on the butterball even though I was basically flying blind. But since I've always wanted to get a turkey fryer, I was very excited.

The butterball turkey fryer sells for $159.96 plus $24.99 shipping and handling and that is not a bad price considering what you get. The shipping is standard Fedex ground so it won't take weeks to arrive. But here is the good news. The Butterball Turkey Fryer being advertised as seen on TV is the same as the Masterbuilt 20010109 Butterball Turkey Fryer you can find on Amazon for less money. I got mine on Amazon and I'm thrilled. It came with the same junk advertised in the TV offer but without the instructional DVD. It had written instructions so I was fine.

You may have noticed in the video that this Indoor Turkey Fryer is also a steamer and boiler which makes it an extremely versatile kitchen appliance. Since I really don't have a good steamer or boiler this item was really worth the money for me. You'll have to decide how it fits into your budget.

The claim is that it can cook a 14lb tukey in less than an hour and will say that this is true as long as your turkey is completely thawed. Remember that ice and hot oil don't mix and will cause boil over and splatter no matter what type of appliance you are using. This is what generally makes turkey fryers so dangerous. Now the Butterball Turkey Fryer is completely enclosed and you will be spared the splatter but making sure you are thawed out is a must if you want to be able to time it out properly.

The unit is smaller than I expected and keep in mind that you cannot cook a turkey larger than 14lbs. You might be able to smoosh a slightly larger thawed bird into the interior pan but there is not a lot of extra room. Anything smaller than 14lbs should fit with ease. The design of the pan and the small area within the fryer itself means that a lot less oil is needed than you would expect. The fryer is electric and heats itself with an internal heating element with precise temperature controls. You literally just have to heat the oil according to instruction, place your thawed turkey into the fryer and wait for it to cook. It is very simple.

I'm going to say that even though I have never tried another electric indoor turkey fryer, I can't imagine that one could be any easier than the Butterball. I'm happy with my purchase and will use it for both Thanksgiving and Christmas this year. If you have to cook a larger turkey then this might not be for you. However, because you can make a turkey in under an hour, you might consider cooking two smaller birds instead of one larger one.

The butterball turkey fryer is not that messy either. It comes with a pretty handy draining tube so you can manage your cleanup safely. I think the fold up lid with viewing window is cool but it is not a feature that makes or breaks the sale for me. I want SAFE and easy to use and the Butterball seems to be just that.

If you decide to buy through the As Seen On TV offer you will get a lot of extras including:

  • FREE $5.00 off Butterball Turkey Coupon
  • FREE Butterball Carving Gloves
  • FREE 3 Piece Set of Vacuumed Sealed Lids
  • FREE 2 Piece Carving Prep Sheets
  • FREE Instructional DVD
  • FREE $250 Savings toward future products

I will not make any claims that say you will receive these bonus items if you order through Amazon or any other retailer but you will surely save a few bucks and you will have the peace of mind knowing you are ordering through a reputable company. This review does not include the Butterball Turkey Fryer's value as a steamer or a boiler because I have not tried to use it in that capacity yet. Nor have I tried to fry potatoes, doughnuts or anything else for that matter. I've done a small turkey only and it tasted fabulous. It was really juicy and skin was crisp. I'm definitely happy I tried this and I'm sure unlike a lot of as seen on TV cooking products, the Butterball Indoor Electric Turkey Fryer will get allot of use.

Is the butterball turkey fryer the same as the masterbuilt turkey fryer?

Medical Alarms 18 months ago

@Ruth

Yes Masterbuilt is the maker of the Butterball Turkey Fryer. If you see the infomercial on television they mention that a few times.

I've seen the butterball turkey fryer everywhere on TV and I suppose it is the season. I know it sounds good for Turkey but have you tried any of the other features yet?

I'm so glad you published this! I love deep fried turkey, but the outdoor rig is more than I want to mess with. I've been seeing this appliance, and I'm glad to hear from an actual user. You've converted me - I'm heading to Amazon.

Really want one of those . I was thinking of getting the propane model but after seeing your post and seeing the Allstate commercial about how many folks have managed to burn down their houses because of them,,,, I think I'll take the electric one :o)

I purchased one of your turkey fryers on the night before Thanksgiving at my local Sears department stores. I put it together the next day (Thanksgiving) and it didn't work. I tried to return it to Sears that day but they were closed and Masterbuilt was out for the weekend (imagine that). I have no ideal if your product is good or not? I just know it was defective! After reading some reviews on line, it appears this is a problem that's occurred on several occasions. I took a few days to cool off but before I wrote this letter knowing if I wrote what I really wanted to say I probably wouldn’t get anywhere. My families Thanksgiving was put on hold for a period of time. Thanks Butterball for nothing!!!
