Nootie Natural Dog Shampoo
Nootie Natural Dog Shampoo was something I tried out with my groomer a few months back and I'm a bit surprised it is soon to be marketed on television. There is nothing extraordinary about Nootie but it is a great product. My dog's groomer had it and thought it would be perfect for my dog.
My dog is on the older side and tends to not smell great to put it mildly. He is an indoor dog with a lot of hair who suffers from dry skin. He gets all types of skin irritations so I don't like to bathe him too often but I have to make sure I bathe him enough. It's a bit of a fine line for me and I usually use medicated shampoo recommended by my vet, but I was urged to try Nootie, and I'm glad I did.
What Is Nootie Dog Shampoo?
So before I tell you about my experience, let me tell you what Nootie is. Nootie is a combination natural dog shampoo and daily spritzer. It comes in a patent pending bottle which happens to be pretty cool. The shampoo is actually a 12 oz. bottle that fits over a 4 oz. bottle of daily spritz. They fit together in a neat little kit for a fantastic presentation and what I think will be a trendy little pet item.
There are four different unique Nootie fragrances which smell out of this world and each is soap free and can be used with topical flea and tick medicines with no problem. I have included a description of each Nootie Shampoo below:
- Japanese Cherry Blossom: Exhilarating – The exotic scent of Japanese Cherry Blossom combined with Rosemary stimulates the senses while promoting a healthy coat.
- Cucumber Melon: Soothing – The fresh scent of cucumber melon combined with aloe & oatmeal helps relieve dry, itchy skin while leaving your dog smelling fresh and clean.
- Sweet Pea Vanilla: Refreshing – The delicate scent of Sweet Pea & Vanilla combined with Jojoba oil gently cleanses and nourishes dry, stressed coats.
- Warm Vanilla Cookie: Moisturizing – The delicious aroma of Warm Vanilla Cookie combined with sweet almond oil and Vitamin E contains essential fatty acids for a soft, shiny coat.
Nootie Shampoo Review
The Nootie shampoo that was recommended for my little dog was the Cucumber Melon. It was supposed to be the most soothing of the bunch and the incredible scent is indescribable. I love the smell of cucumber because it is invigorating and tends to linger. Combine that with the hint of melon and it you have an unbelievably fresh scent. The cucumber melon also seamed to be a little less pronounced than the others which to me were a little to perfumey.
I was thrilled that the shampoo I needed to help my dog's skin was the one, at least in my opinion, that smelled the best. However, it was the oatmeal and aloe to help moisturize and sooth dry flaky skin that is what would hopefully bring some relief to my pet. I couldn't be sure that the soothing properties of Nootie would be any better than anything else but it seemed reasonable to assume it would be fine.
Bathing my dog was easy and the shampoo rinsed off well. Less residue means less rinsing for me and less stressful moments in the tub for my dog. He seemed very clean after his first wash and smelled great. The real test would be in a few days when I tried out the matching spritz to keep him smelling as fresh as when he left the bath.
To tell you the truth, I forgot to apply the spritz because "new bath" smell lingered for a long time. It was never overpowering but you certainly could smell it. When I got around to spritzing the smell was boosted a bit and I used it sporadically. Within a week I was pretty lazy about it and decided the spritz was not for me.
But, for a lot of people, Nootie will be ideal. I can imagine all those little dogs people carry in their purses would love to have a nice little bottle of natural doggy perfume. Even though the shampoo is wonderful, I really think the spritz is for those who love to spoil their dogs. Then again, having a fresh clean scent in a bottle in case your dog gets a little stinky is always handy. Nootie is definitely worth at least one try.
